AHPA's Dentali Discusses Jobs in Herbal Industry

SILVER SPRING, M.D.Steven Dentali, Ph.D., chief science officer for the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), discussed herbal career trends at the Tai Sophia Institute in Maryland on October 11.

Dentali was a featured speaker at the institutes symposium "Careers in Integrative Health," which highlighted experiences and expectations in the therapeutic herbal industry. Other speakers included Helen Oketch, Ph.D., of U.S. Pharmacopeia, Nancy Booth, Ph.D., of Spherix Inc., Susan Leopold, Ph.D., of United Plant Savers, Steven Casper, Ph.D., from the Food and Drug Administration, and William Obermeyer, Ph.D., from Consumer Labs.

In October, Dentali moderated a session on industry analytical needs at the AOAC International's 126th annual meeting.

"Interest in the analysis of herbal products among analytical chemists appears to be at an all-time high as innovative methods and approaches to botanical analysis and authentication continue to attract interest at AOAC's annual meeting," Dentali said. "It's rewarding to help guide these efforts and to see greater and wider interest in our industry year after year."
