HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.—Stephen L. D’Amelio, the grandson of the founders of Bio-Botanica, died suddenly Feb. 5; he was 20 years old. Stephen was the son of Frank Jr. and Deanna D’Amelio, and grandson of Frank Sr. and Josephine D’Amelio. The D’Amelio family founded Bio-Botanica, Nature’s Answer and NPP in 1972. Stephen participated in the family business, working the warehouse, assisting in the office and most recently learning the field sales operation.

A company release said: “Stephen was known for his ‘good hearted’ nature, flipping burgers at company picnics and handing out T-shirts to keep everyone cool in the summer. Recently, Stephen earned a scholarship to Penn State University. We will all miss Stephen’s enthusiastic, friendly and upbeat demeanor. We sincerely empathize with the entire D’Amelio family in this heartbreaking loss."
