ZURICHDKSHs Business Unit Performance Materials, a specialty chemicals and food ingredients distributor, opened a sales office in Sri Lanka on Jan. 20, 2012. This opening allows the Swiss-headquartered Market Expansion Services specialist to extend its service portfolio to Sri Lanka. Through this new sales channel, DKSH offers its existing and new clients a more market coverage in Asia.

India is a fast-growing market within DKSHs chemical distribution activities, and we are committed to further strengthening our comprehensive network in this important region," said Mario Preissler, global Head Business Unit Performance Materials.

DKSHs chemical distribution business has grown over the past years, both in terms of delivering sales results and from the perspective of delivering new services. In order to further strengthen its Indian operations and to provide its customers added value in stock keeping and on-time delivery, DKSH had recently opened a new distribution center in Delhi catering to customers in and around North India, and complementing a second distribution center in Mumbai.

DKSH is investing in a confectionery and bakery innovation center in Mumbai to deepen the companys application expertise, develop business ideas and formulate concepts that create opportunities for its clients and customers. The facility is planned to be opened by the end of the first quarter of 2012.

The new facility allows DKSH to work closer with key clients in Asia to predict market trends and offer concrete solutions with critical advantages for customers.

Its Business Unit Performance Materials runs 20 innovation centers in Europe, Asia and North America, providing solutions and applications for the specialty chemicals industry. In 2011, DKSH and Sinerga S.p.A. finalized an agreement for DKSH to provide sales, logistics and distribution services to Sinerga in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan as part of an effort to strengthen its presence in China.
