DSM Gives Teavigo License to Taiyo Kagaku

Nutritional ingredient manufacturer and marketer DSM entered a licensing deal with Taiyo Kagaku Co. Ltd. that will transfer the entirety of the Teavigo brand EGCG business to Taiyo.

PARSIPPANY, N.J.—Nutritional ingredient manufacturer and marketer DSM entered a licensing deal with Taiyo Kagaku Co. Ltd. that will transfer the entirety of the Teavigo brand EGCG business to Taiyo.

Under the terms of the deal, Taiyo will become the sole producer of Teavigo by the end of 2014. Previously, Teavigo has been distributed by Pharmachem Laboratories Inc. in the dietary supplement market and by DSM in the food and beverage market. Taiyo will take full responsibility for both markets now.

During the transitional period, DSM, Pharmachem and Taiyo will work together to allow for a seamless transition for Teavigo customers.

Teavigo is a green tea extract available in a many forms. It’s water soluble, odorless and has high levels of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). DSM gave it self-affirmed generally recognized as safe (GRAS) status  in 2005.
