NOBLESVILLE, Ind.The National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) approved a standardized Boswellia serrata extract (from Verdure Sciences) through its Preferred Raw Material Supplier testing program. NASCs Preferred Supplier program is designed to assure NASC members that certain supply chain partners can be trusted to meet and exceed high-quality standards.

The certification was announced at the NASC Annual Conference, May 11 to 13, in San Diego. The event recognized several organizations for outstanding achievements to improving quality in the animal health supplement industry.

Boswellia, from which frankincense is derived, is a rich source of compounds that promote joint health and joint function. Verdure's Boswellia extract is made in a dedicated botanicals-only facility using a number of quality standards, including USDA Organic, ISO, Kosher, HACCP, cGMP, and the U.S. Pharmacopoeia.

Verdure Sciences recently released a White Paper on its Boswellia serrata research, with a particular focus on bioavailability and chemistry.

NASC's goal is to promote the health and well-being of non-human food chain animals, such as horses, cats, dogs and other companion animals, that are given animal health supplements by their owners, and to protect and enhance the integrity of the animal health product industry.
