AUSTIN, TexasNatac, a biotechnology company researching and developing healthy natural products in Spain, acquired olive (Olea europaea) for a three-year commitment through the American Botanical Council's (ABC) Adopt-an-Herb Program.

As part of the Adopt-an-Herb Program, Natac and 15 other companies contribute to this ongoing project that aims to provide the latest information and innovations of herbs and medicinal plants as a resource for new articles and studies. Natac will be responsible for collecting and updating its scientific discoveries and clinical research on olive in ABC's HerbMedPro database. The database is an interactive outlet that provides free online access to the general public on scientific and clinical publications of more than 250 medicinal herbs.

ABC is deeply grateful to Natac for their adoption of olive," said Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of ABC. Their participation in this program will ensure that information on olive preparations in the HerbMedPro database will stay current, all while supporting ABCs nonprofit educational mission. It seems that almost every week or month, there are new studies coming out on the health benefits of consumption of olive oil or olive extracts, making this an especially timely adoption."

Natac has already developed new ingredients extracted from the olive tree for cosmetics and animal nutrition and the company also started a different division known as Innovaoleo by Natac. The new division is a collaboration project with other companies in olive production, dedicated to the research of natural ingredients from the olive tree.
