Pharmachem Labs ~ Teavigo® Green Tea Extract

KEARNY, N.J.Pharmachem Laboratories Inc. obtained the exclusive distribution rights for Teavigo® green tea extract for the dietary supplement marketplace.  Developed by Swiss firm, DSM Nutritional Products, Teavigo is extracted through a proprietary process that ensures a 90-percnet EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-Gallate) extract.

Teavigo is a high-potency green tea extract with excellent application potential for nutritional supplements, as well as functional foods and beverages," said Mitch Skop, senior director of new product development for Pharmachem.  It is a GRAS product that is caffeine free and water soluble. It also has no bitter aftertaste like other green tea extracts."

Scientists believe that the catechins in green tea, primarily ECGC, deliver powerful antioxidants that protect and repair cells from damage. In addition, studies show the EGCG in green tea also enhances metabolism, increases fat oxidation and aids in weight management.

We were impressed with the number and quality of safety and clinical studies that have been conducted on Teavigo," added Skop. In the last few years, several studies published in prestigious journals, including the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, have concluded that: EGCG significantly decreased resting heart rate and reduced plasma glucose in subjects with impaired glucose tolerance; has the potential to increase fat oxidation in men, may contribute to the anti-obesity effects of green tea, acutely improves endothelial function in humans with coronary artery disease, and has a nice effect on oral health and halitosis."
