AHPA requires caffeine labeling

American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) amended its caffeine labeling requirements for trade products. The organization decided to amend its Code of Ethics & Business Conduct at its most recent board of trustees' meeting.

In 2005, AHPA first adopted a requirement on labeling caffeine-containing dietary supplements. The amendment now applies to products marketed as foods and those that contain added caffeine. Products containing less than 5 mg of total caffeine are exempt.
