Beef Jerky Recalled Nationwide Over Undeclared Allergen

WASHINGTONHickory Hollow Jerky LLC, of Eufaula, Ala., announced a nationwide recall of approximately 1,800 pounds of flavored beef jerky products because the product contains Worcestershire sauce that has anchovy paste as a subcomponent. Fish is a known allergen and was not declared on the product label, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced June 12.

The recall involves 3-ounce Original Recipe "HICKORY HOLLOW BEEF JERKY" bearing the establishment number "EST. 34550" inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label; 3-ounce Sweet Heat BBQ "HICKORY HOLLOW BEEF JERKY" bearing the establishment number "EST. 34550" inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label; and 3-ounce Hot Shot "HICKORY HOLLOW BEEF JERKY" bearing the establishment number "EST. 34550"inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label.

The products were produced on various dates between Dec. 4, 2012 and June 4, 2013, and sold nationwide at retail stores and over the Internet.
