Corn Products Launches Clean Labels Website
April 25, 2012
WESTCHESTER, Ill.Corn Products International/National Starch Food Innovation launched cleanlabelinsights.com to educate and communicate consumer needs for clean label products. Despite growing consumer demand for cleaner labels, the company noted no industry-wide definition.
After reviewing the market, the company concluded clean label would be defined as "free from food additives, simple ingredient listing and minimally processed."
The new website provides a platform for manufacturers and opinion leaders to access research, technical advances, culinary applications, regulatory information and case studies on consumer product activity within clean label topics.
For the launch of the website, the company conducted the first in a series of consumer research projects to identify global attitudes toward clean label products. The study will enable the company to track the impact of product labeling and purchasing behavior in different regions; this will allow for more accurate recommendations on how to cater for distinct requirements.
National Starch Food Innovation is a part of Corn Products International, and is a global supplier of nature-based functional and nutritional ingredient solutions to the food and beverage industries. In February 2012, Corn Products International reported it intended to change its name to Ingredion. The shift is pending shareholder approval at its annual meeting coming up in May.
