Mispackaged Kroger Cookies Lead to Recall

OMAHA, Neb.ConAgra Foods, along with the cooperation of  U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has recalled a limited number of Kroger's Break 'N Bake chocolate chip cookie dough packages due to peanut butter cup cookie dough inadvertently mispacked into chocolate chip cookie dough packages.

The 16 oz. packages of cookies, with a UPC No. 1111087530 and an expiration date of 24NOV13C21, may cause serious or life-threatening reaction if people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts consume the product.

Currently, no illnesses have been reported.

Consumers who have purchased the product are asked to return it to the store of purchase for a full refund. Questions or comments on this issue may be directed to 800-252-0634, 24 hours a day/seven days a week.

The recalled items were sold in Kroger, Dillons, Bakers, Gerbes, Foods Co., Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Frys, Jay C, Owens, Pay Less, Scotts, QFC, Ralphs and Smiths stores.

The product was shipped to Kroger distribution centers and stores in 26 states, including: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Not affected by this recall are Krogers Southwest Division stores in Texas and Louisiana; Krogers Delta Division stores in western Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, western Kentucky and southern Missouri; and King Soopers and City Market stores in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.

ConAgra Foods is also issuing an alert through Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) in an effort to inform any potentially impacted consumers. The label does indicate that the product may contain peanuts.
