Pork Dumplings Recalled Over Undeclared MSG

WASHINGTONCB Foods, Inc., based in El Monte, Calif., is recalling approximately 55,757 pounds of pork dumpling products shipped to restaurants because they contains monosodium glutamate (MSG), which is not declared on the labels, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced June 11.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered chicken powder, which is incorporated into the pork dumpling product, contains MSG, but only the powdernot the MSG contained within the powderis listed as an ingredient.

The recall involves 12.5-pound cases or trays of "Pork Shaomai Dumpling" with a case code of 002. Each box bears the establishment number "EST. 39932" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were produced from June 2011 to June 5, 2012, and shipped to hotels and restaurants in California and Nevada.
