Undeclared Allergen Prompts Nationwide Beef Jerky Recall
Prime Snax Inc., based in Salt Lake City, is recalling approximately 90,000 pounds of beef jerky products because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Jan. 11. The jerky products were processed with a releasing agent containing soy lecithin, a known allergen that is not declared on the label.

WASHINGTONPrime Snax Inc., based in Salt Lake City, is recalling approximately 90,000 pounds of beef jerky products because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Jan. 11. The jerky products were processed with a releasing agent containing soy lecithin, a known allergen that is not declared on the label.
The recall involves beef jerky products produced prior to Feb. 2, 2014, and shipped to retail locations nationwide. The recalled products were sold in various flavors and size packaging under the following brandsArizona Jacks, Desert Star, Southwest Trail, Terrell and Kettle Creek. The products subject to recall bear the establishment number EST. 18951" inside the USDA mark of inspection and a date on the packages prior to Aug. 11, 2015.
