Whole Foods Recalls Mislabeled Cold Salads Over Allergens

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.Whole Foods Market is recalling bulk curried chicken salad and bulk vegan curried chick'n salad because some of the items may have been sold with reversed labels causing undeclared soy and egg allergens, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced May 9. Due to the label mix-up, allergens were undeclared; the vegan chick'n salad contains soy, and the curried chicken salad contains egg.

The recall involves curried chicken salad and the vegan curried chick'n salad sold in the cold salad bars on May 7 and May 8, 2013. The recalled products were sold at stores in Darien, Conn.; Fairfield, Conn.; West Hartford, Conn.; Portland, Maine; Framingham, Mass.; Fresh Pond, Cambridge, Mass.; Milburn-Union, N.J.; Montclair, N.J.; Rose City-Madison, N.J.; West Orange, N.J.; Jericho, N.Y.; Lake Grove, N.Y.; Manhasset, N.Y.; Columbus Circle in New York City; and Upper West Side in New York City.
