SALT LAKE CITYUSANA Health Sciences Inc.s multivitamin, The Essentials®, was tested and approved by ConsumerLab.com in its recent tests of 60 multivitamins sold in the United States and Canada, including three for pets. USANA said its important that supplement manufacturers obtain third-party certification to help demonstrate a commitment to making effective, reliable products.

ConsumerLab.com verified that both supplements in The Essentials, a dual-bottle regimen composed of Chelated Mineral® and Mega Antioxidant®, met its testing criteria for ingredient quality and quantity, met US Pharmacopeia  standards for disintegration, adhered to FDA labeling requirements and did not exceed California Prop 65 levels for lead contamination.

One out of three of the multivitamins tested by ConsumerLab did not obtain the approved rating. Results showed many discrepancies between label claims and product, and one pet multi was found to be contaminated with lead.

ConsumerLab.com is among several independent testing companies that have given USANA the stamp of approval on its rigorously tested products. We are proud to say that this and several other USANA products have consistently passed ConsumerLab.coms tests with flying colors," said Dan Macuga, USANA vice president of marketing and public relations.
