Aker Scores First Russian Krill Patent

OSLO, NorwayAker BioMarine Antarctic AS has received the first Russian patent for krill (#2460309), covering krill processing technology and the krill products made by such technology, including krill oils and  powders containing krill proteins and phosholipids. The patent, which was announced Sept. 10 in theOfficial Gazette of Rospatent for inventions, expires on Aug. 29, 2028.

"After having seen the potential for krill oil products in other markets globally, we are pleased to announce that Aker BioMarine now has a patent foothold in the sizeable Russian market," said Matts Johansen, chief operating officer of Aker BioMarine. "It is also a confirmation to see that our inventions are considered novel and non-obvious over the prior art even in one of the pioneering countries of the krill trade."
