FRESNO, Calif.Sheldon Baker, co-founder of the Baker Dillon Group, will speak on a panel discussion on Oct. 1 during the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) annual meeting, taking place in Austin, Texas. The session will focus on the opportunities, challenges and benefits of obtaining intellectual property (IP) protection for branded dietary supplement ingredients and finished products; among the topics will be the use of proprietary scientific data, brand promotion, investing in patents, and the ultimate result in consumer confidence.

Bakers comments will focus on the role of brand names delivering strategic impact and how the power of brand promotion in the marketplace is directly related to the legal protection of the trademark. The additional speakers are Kenley Hoover, a patent attorney with the Washington, D.C. law firm Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox; and Anthony Almada, MSc, chief scientific officer and president of Imaginutrition, an innovation and science marketing think tank.
