Chr. Hansen Receives Patent on Curcumin Purification Process

MILWAUKEEChr. Hansen received U.S. Patent No. 6,942,881 covering Purification process for improving total yield ofcurcuminoid coloring agent. The patent pertains to a production process thatimproves total yield of curcuminoids from turmeric and othercurcuminoid-containing materials by 30 to 40 percent. Curcumin is typically usedas a food color in a range of dairy products, beverages, confectionary and more; studies suggest it has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities.
