Cyanotech Receiving Patent for Astaxanthin and Carpal Tunnel
KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii--Cyanotech Corp. received a notice of allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that it will allow the company's patent application for its BioAstin™ astaxanthin and treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. The patent number has not yet been released.
According toCyanotech, preclinical studies showed that use of BioAstin yielded positive results for treatment of carpal tunnel and tendonsynovitis (a form of tendonitis specific to the wrist). Two clinical trials are currently underway: one assessing BioAstin's effectiveness for reducing delayed onset of muscle soreness after strenuous exercise, and the other for relief of carpal tunnel.
