Maitake Gains U.S. Patent

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.Maitake Products Inc. (www.maitake.com) was granted a U.S. patent (No. 7,214,778) covering the method of preparing an active glycoprotein from maitake (Grifola frondosa) and its application for diabetic, obesity, hypertension and hyperlipidemic health conditions. The company supplies the product as SX-Fraction® in a finished product form, and will now offer a standardized extract raw material labeled PSX-Fraction to other manufacturers.
