Naturex Granted Fraxinus Patent

SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J.Naturex was granted a U.S. patent for its extraction of a Fraxinus-based ingredient used to fight metabolic syndrome. The patent Extract of Fraxinus Excelsior seeds and therapeutic applications therefor" (No. 8,293,292) refers to FraxiPure, an extract supports blood sugar regulation.

The Fraxinus extract comes from a tree in the Oleaceae family, commonly known as "common ash." FraxiPure is included in dietary supplements such as capsules, tablets and softgels, in addition to functional ingredients.

 Our patent describes a unique extraction and isolation process to obtain an extract mainly standardized to two novel compounds: nuzhenide and GI3," said Marc Roller, scientific director.  "It also discloses the significant effect of FraxiPure to control glycemia levels in people suffering from metabolic syndrome.

Earlier in November, the company completed the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 certification for its New Jersey facility, along with a company-wide audit of its risk management plans, and supply chain and manufacturing processes.
