REDMOND, Wash. The Japanese Patent Office issued Nutraceutix a patent (no. 5041651) for its BIO-tract probiotic technology. And the Canadian Patent Office gave company patent application (no. 2461708), which it expects to formally issue in the coming days.

These are the fifth and sixth international patents that the delivery technology has received. Nutraceutix received its U.S. patent last year.

The company said BIO-tract products overcome three major barriers to effective probiotic supplementation: 1) survival of the organisms through the manufacturing process; 2) survival on the store shelf over extended timeframes; and 3) survival past harsh stomach acids.
