Nutraceutix's BIO-tract Patent Granted

REDMOND, Wash.Nutraceutix's patents for the Delivery System for Biological Component, trademarked as BIO-tract®, have been granted in more than 30 countries.

BIO-tract tablets offer protection from damaging stomach acids and gently release live organisms to the upper and lower intestinal tracts. BIO-tract takes advantage of Nutraceutix's patented LiveBac® processing to extend the shelf live of probiotics and other supplemental formseven at room temperature.

"Our growing global patent portfolio documents BIO-tract's technical superiority," said Tim Gamble, president and CEO of Nutraceutix. "For years, BIO-tract has been a recognized hallmark of quality and is now becoming the industry standard for premium probiotics and other ingredients that benefit its unique capabilities," Gamble said.

According to SPINS, in 2012, probiotic sales in the United States climbed to 79 percent from $1.25 billion in July 2010 to $2.25 billion in July 2012.

The patent includes 24 countries in the European Patent Convention with the addition of Australia, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation and the United States. Additional patents in the United States and Canada are pending.
