Nutrition 21 Collecting $1 Million for Patent Infringement

PURCHASE, N.Y.--Nutrition 21 (formerly AMBI) announced Feb. 21 that it settled a chromium picolinate patent infringement claim with an unnamed company for $1 million. According to Gail Montgomery, chief executive officer, the settlement will be reinvested in brand building for the company's Chromax® chromium picolinate and expansion of its patent enforcement efforts. "Nineteen patent infringement suits have been filed in connection with AMBI's chromium picolinate franchise thus far," Montgomery said. "Furthermore, while investigating this claim, we uncovered evidence of additional infringement by others in the industry which we expect to result in further claims." The company is online at www.nutrition21.com.
