ONE Bio Obtains Danshen Extraction Patent

MIAMI Green Planet Bioengineering Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of ONE Bio Corp., filed for a patent covering its new extraction process for Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen), which yields a 97 percent transfer ratea 30 percent increase than traditional processes. The patent covers the use of technology to break Salvia roots to obtain a higher transfer rate for Tanshinone A and danshinolic acid B.

ONE Bio expects its new extract will contribute approximately $2.2 million to revenue for the remainder of 2010, with several orders already pending delivery. Danshen is traditionally used in Asia for heart health, and has been known as the blood root." Tanshinone, an isolated compound in Salvia, has been studied for its effect on heart rate and ability to induce vasodilation, which may impact platelet aggregation.
