ONE Bio Obtains Danshen Extraction Patent

MIAMI Green Planet Bioengineering Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of ONE Bio Corp., filed for a patent covering its new extraction process for Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen), which yields a 97 percent transfer ratea 30 percent increase than traditional processes. The patent covers the use of technology to break Salvia roots to obtain a higher transfer rate for Tanshinone A and danshinolic acid B.

ONE Bio expects its new extract will contribute approximately $2.2 million to revenue for the remainder of 2010, with several orders already pending delivery. Marius Silvasan, CEO, ONE Bio, commented, We are pleased to have obtained this important patent which has allowed us to launch this highly demanded Salvia extract. Initial sales for the extract are very encouraging. Our R&D team continues to deliver us an increasing product portfolio highly demanded in the market place."

Danshen is traditionally used in Asia for heart health, and has been known as the blood root." Tanshinone, an isolated compound in Salvia, has been studied for its effect on heart rate and ability to induce vasodilation, which may impact platelet aggregation.
