PharmaNutrients Receives CLA Patent

CHICAGOPharmaNutrientsannounced it was awarded U.S. Patent No. 6,838,451 for a composition of conjugated linoleicacid (CLA) combined with glucosamine and ascorbic acid for prevention andtreatment of inflammation and degenerative joint conditions. The patent includes25 allowed claims covering a number of inflammation-related disorders. CLA hasbeen studied for its impact on body composition, cardiovascular health andantioxidant defenses.

Susie Rockway, Ph.D., director of research and development atPharmaNutrients (www.pharmanutrients.com), said CLA impacts many biochemicalparameters in the body. The ability of CLA One to reduce the pro-inflammatorycytokines suggested numerous functions for CLA, she said. We have studies planned to enable us to betterunderstand its mechanism and further validate this technology.
