CHICAGOSourceOne Global Partners received a U.S. patent for its VESIsorb® colloidal droplet delivery system. The umbrella patent (No. 8,158,134) covers various natural product ingredients, such as coenzyme Q10, omega-3 EFAS, vitamin D-3, resveratrol, curcumin, tocotrienols and citrus polymethoxylated flavones.

In a 2009 study in the journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, the bioavailability of a single oral dose of CoQ10 formulated with VESIsorb was 622 percent higher than an oil-based formula (Altern Ther Health Med. 2009 Mar-Apr;15(2):42-6.).

SourceOne creates formulations using patented delivery systems such as VESIsorb for nutritional supplements, functional food and beverages and medical foods. For more information on formulations with the ever-popular CoQ10, visit INSIDER's slide show "Creating CoQ10 Products."

Editor's note: This article was changed for a correction. It originally said the study found VESIsorb was 62 percent higher than an oil-based formula; it was actually 622 percent higher. INSIDER regrets this error.
