OSLOA clinical study on Aker BioMarine's Superba Krill oil shows significant reduction in serum triglycerides (TG) and an increased omega-3 index. Published in the February 2014 edition of Nutrition Research, it is the largest human krill study to date (Nut Res. Feb 2014. doi:10.1016).
Superba showed a 10.2-percent decrease in TG and a 70-percent rise in omega-3 index in a placebo-controlled study. A total of 300 volunteers with either "borderline high" or "high" TG levels participated in the study coordinated by Kjetil Berge, Ph.D., research and development (R&D) director or Aker BioMarine Antarctic.
"It is remarkable that krill oil, providing on average less than 400 mg per day of EPA and DHA, produced a significant 10-percent reduction in serum triglyceride levels," said William Harris, Ph.D., and member of the Aker BioMarine Antarctic Science Board.
