DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia—Soaring requests for essential fatty acids (EFAs) in finished consumer products has put demand for Ocean Nutrition Canada’s MEG-3® at a tipping point, according to the company. ONC produces MEG-3 using patented encapsulation technology that reduces the unpleasant tastes or smells sometimes associated with fish oils. In 2006, 15 different types of food products utilized MEG-3; Robert Orr, president of ONC (www.ocean-nutrition.com), said that number will continue to grow. “Many more major food brands will be launching products in the days ahead so consumers will soon have the choice to fill their shopping baskets with foods containing MEG-3 brand ingredients and contribute to their daily need for omega-3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA),” he said.
