Global Health Trax Joins GOED

VISTA, Calif.Global Health Trax Inc. (GHT) joined the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3 (GOED).

GHT is currently developing a line of algal-based omega-3-based products. AlgaeBio Omega-3 Originsomega-3 fatty acid oils, sourced from marine algae, that include both eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)is slated to go to market in late 2012. The products align with GOED standards and goals.

GOED is a nonprofit trade association dedicated to growing the global markets for EPA and DHA products. The association focuses on promoting health benefits of EPA and DHA to consumers; it also supports public education and safety by establishing ethical business and product quality standards, which target the advancement of government, health care and industry relations. Currently, GOED represents more than 100 manufacturers, marketers and supporters of EPA and DHA omega-3s around the world.

AlgaeBio Omega-3 Origins products will contain equal parts of vegetable-based EPA and DHA, at a blended ratio of 40 percent. The products will also contain phytosterols, chlorophyll, vitamins C and E, and carotenoids such as beta carotene, lutein and fuxocanthin. These products will be available for both adults and children.

In March, GOED organized a satellite event at Nutracon 2012, which dedicated a full day to omega-3 benefits in children and adults, as well as current and future market possibilities for the fatty acids.
