The Global Organization of EPA and DHA (GOED) Omega-3 launched its new website, http://www.goedomega3.com. The website was created to inform members, science media, health professionals, trade marketers and retailers about the organization, its mission, and its membership benefits. This website also provides visitors with important omega-3 information such as downloadable versions of the Voluntary Monograph and the Omega-3 White Paper. Additionally, the site describes key omega-3 research studies and provides links to the abstracts.

Robert Orr, chairman, GOED Omega-3, said: Our new trade association is only two months old and creating a website was an important tool to help us inform people about the organization and our mission. This site is just a start as it will expand over time to provide more critical information concerning omega-3s.

The organizations goal is to have 50 companies in its membership before the end of 2007. It is well on its way to achieving that target, as 21 companies have already joined and several others have expressed interest.

GOED is a nonprofit, international trade association comprised of EPA and DHA omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LCPUFA) industry processors, refiners, manufacturers, distributors, marketers and retailers, as well as secondary associates and other interested parties including health-care professionals, educators, researchers, and others.

GOED is committed to promoting EPA and DHA awareness globally through consumer education, marketing strategies, government lobby and by maintaining effective, open communications with the public, the health-care community and the industry. Most importantly, GOED is committed to product quality, integrity, and self-governance and protection of the omega 3 EPA/DHA category.
