LAVAL, QuebecNeptune krill oil will now be available to more U.S. national retailers and wholesalers, creating more brand recognition for the omega-3 ingredient from Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. Neptune  recently finalized agreements with two distribution companies that together represent close to 30-percent of the U.S. mass market nutraceutical business, according to Neptune.

Frederic Harland, director, finance, Neptune, said the company does not want to do not disclose the names of the distributors due to competitive reasons, but noted B&D Nutritional Ingredients was a helpful agent while communicating with the two big distributors.

Bill Van Dyke, CEO of B&D, said these agreements will grant Neptune krill oil access to more than 100,000,000 Americans with nationwide market coverage in over 54,000 retailers. Van Dyke also said, following initial commitments from these large distributors, the company estimates a minimum volume of 50,000 kg per year.

Those new customers will also get Neptunes recently NSF-verified environmental marketing claims on packages, such as Neptune only uses krill captured by fisheries that follow the Antarctic Treaty (1961) rules and respect the annual capture quota of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)."
