OmegaTech Opens Facility,Releases Study

BOULDER, Colo.--OmegaTech (www.omegadha.com) has established OmegaTech GmbH, a research and sales facility based near Frankfurt, Germany. The new facility will serve as the central business office for the European sales of the company's nutritional products. Dr. Gerhard Kohn will be managing director for the facility, which will explore new processing methods for production of functional lipids extracted from natural sources including plants, microalgae and eggs.

Also, OmegaTech released results of a study conducted at Auburn University that found the breast milk of nursing mothers can be significantly enriched with the essential nutrient DHA through use of functional foods. Lactating women who consumed 300 mg/day of DHA Gold in Gold Circle Farms eggs doubled the amount of DHA in their breast milk in just four days. DHA has been linked to human cognitive and visual development. The results were released at the Institute of Food Technologists meeting in June in New Orleans.
