VISTA, Calif.PlusPharma is offering a chia seed extract in oil form made by CO2 extraction. Chia or Salvia hispanica is a potent vegetable source of omega-3 (approximately 64 percent), and contains additional minerals, vitamins and proteins. The manufacturer, Monteloeder, located in Spain, is vertically integrated with the plantations in South America (Mexico, Peru and Guatemala), and cooperates with indigenous farmers to source the seed. The material is ecologically friendly; no solvents are used in the extraction and its odorless. The extract is made from organic chia seeds and is non-GMO and CTFA.

A dossier is available with the advantages compared to flax seed oil and other ingredients. One of the advantages compared to flaxseed oil is stability with two years shelf life. Chia seed oil doesn't contain some of the toxic cyanogenic compounds that breakdown to hydrogen cyanide in the gut or vitamin B antagonists.
