Registration Opens for 2016 GOED Exchange

The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED) opened registration for its GOED Exchange 2016 conference, set for Feb. 2 to 4, 2016, in Tenerife, Canary Islands—the first time the conference has taken place outside of the United States. The conference will bring together all segments of the omega-3 industry to tackle the topic “Shaping the Future of the Industry."

“Our team has spent a lot of time really thinking through the theme and goals for the GOED Exchange conference," said Ellen Schutt, GOED’s communications director and project manager of the GOED Exchange. “The event is designed to foster the exchange of ideas and bring the industry together to solve problems, and we work very hard to make sure it’s not a typical industry conference."

The event starts off with a pre-conference workshop exploring how to select the optimal regulatory pathway—whether supplement, food, drug or other—for an omega-3 product. That afternoon, the opening keynote will be delivered by Rohit Bhargava, a noted “trend curator" who will discuss building consumer trust in a transparent world; following the presentation, attendees will take part in an interactive discussion about consumer omega-3 trust paradoxes. On Feb. 3 and 4, speakers will address subjects including the early days of omega-3 research, the state of science on omega-3s, global regulatory concerns including the Codex Fish Oil standard, the economics of omega-3s, and non-mainstream uses of omega-3s. The final keynote, “Quantifying the Science, Forecasting the Future," will be presented by noted researcher Jorn Dyerberg.

Schutt added the cost should be more reasonable for hotel rates and airfare than the past two GOED Exchange events. In addition, with weather in the 70s, the location should prove a draw for industry members facing a cold winter. Complete details on the event are available at goedexchange.com.
