Schiff, Aker Expand Krill Deal

OSLO, NorwayAker BioMarine (OSE: AKBM) and Schiff Nutrition International (NYSE:WNI) have agreed to extend their krill supply agreement through at least June 2016, granting Schiff certain exclusive sales rights, and the two companies have agreed to collaborate on future krill product innovations. For Schiff, which makes MegaRed brand krill oil products, the partnership provides a sustainable krill source to meet the companys growth goals, and Akers expertise offers to boost the development of future krill products.

Determined to build world class operations and premium brands, we strive to form long-term relationships with quality suppliers, said Tarang Amin, president and CEO of Schiff, noting Aker BioMarine delivers high quality Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified krill oil.

Aker BioMarine, which supplies Superba krill oil and other krill based products, aims to deliver up to 300 metric tons of krill oil per year. "Schiff offers Aker BioMarine a long-term growth platform, said Hallvard Muri, CEO of Aker BioMarine, adding Aker is pleased to partner with the company to further develop the benefits of phospholipid krill with no fishy taste or smell. Schiff Nutrition has invested in growing this category, and we look forward to working with the team on future category-building initiatives."
