October 17, 2011
PÄHL, GermanyThe Aenova Group is moving its effervescent manufacturing plant from Bioggio in Switzerland to Bad Aibling in Bavaria, southern Germany to increase the companys capacity to 500 million effervescent tablets a year. In May 2012, the plant in Bad Aibling will house the companys effervescent tablet and granule manufacturing as well as its packaging.
Production capacity will rise to 500 million effervescent tablets or 2,500 tons of granules a year, according to Aenova. In addition, relocating production from Switzerland to the European Union will simplify and speed up logistical procedures as regulations and transport routes will no longer be an issue, for the most part, across the EU border, the company said.
The increased production is expected to add 30 new jobs at the site, some of which will be taken by experts from the Bioggio site in Switzerland.
The company said two GMP (good manufacturing practice)-compliant production lines are being commissioned at the new plant to produce dietary supplements and medicines.
At the end of September, Aenova opened a new tablet production facility to enable the company to improve processes and increase production efficiency.
Aenova Holding GmbH was established in 2008 following the merger between two medium- sized companies: Dragenopharm Apotheker Püschl GmbH and SWISS CAPS AG. The Aenova Group manufactures and supplies medicines and dietary supplements in oral dosage forms, such as soft gelatine capsules, hard capsules, tablets, film-coated tablets, dragées and effervescent tablets for the pharmaceutical and health care industry. The group aims at an annual turnover of around EUR 250 million and employs 1,500 people at its sites in Germany (Tittmoning, Berlin, Bad Aibling and Warstein), Switzerland (Kirchberg and Bioggio), France (Lyons), Romania (Cornu) and the USA (Miami). The Aenova Group, which has its headquarters in Pähl, southern Germany, offers its customers a portfolio of services, ranging from development, procurement of raw materials, production and analysis through to packaging and logistics.
