Cargill Expands Xanthan Gum Production

MINNEAPOLISCargill Inc. (www.cargill.com)is expanding its Zibo xanthan gum production facility in Shandong Province inthe Peoples Republic of China. The first phase of the expansion (to becompleted in early 2004) will increase xanthan gum production capacity to morethan 5,000 metric tons, and will include a new analytical laboratory, wastewatertreatment plant and processing modifications to improve plant operatingefficiencies. It will also incorporate U.S. good manufacturing practices (GMPs).

In other company news, Cargill Health & Food Technologieslaunched a new Web site to increase consumer awareness for its Corowisephytosterols (www.corowise.com).
