CHAPEL HILL, N.C.James Neal-Kababick, director, Flora Research Laboratories, along with other experts will be discussing advancement in analytical practices at the CoS annual Conference on Small Molecule Science (CoSMoS), held Aug. 1 to 3 in Chapel Hill, NC, at the CSI Chapel Hill Symposia. Neal-Kababicks session covers two techniques for identifying small samples of small molecules that could help product manufacturers ensure quality product.

Specifically, he will cover the use of flash chromatography for rapid isolation of PDE-5 inhibitors followed by analysis using DART-MS and FTIR (MIR). FT-IR (MIR) is a tool can be used in the supplement industry for identity testing of incoming ingredients, and can help manufacturers meet cGMP (current good manufacturing practice) requirements.  Neal-Kababick recently discussed this methods in a Webinar Partner Series, Saving Time and Money with the Multi-Tool of the Dietary Supplement Testing Laboratory."

Other speakers at the conference will present  sample handling, separations and instrumentation, as well as advances in MS, NMR, separations and various spectroscopic methods those currently in use as well as prospective technologies in a workshop format. This conference also has a session on natural products research, considerations for those considering starting up a lab and degradation studies.
