GMP Implementation Positive for Industry

As a certified quality auditor and the lead on all internal and external audits for Amway's Nutrilite division, Amy Caplette has extensive experience with the federal GMPs (good manufacturing practices) for dietary supplements. Caplette spoke with Jon Benninger, Virgo Publishing, at SupplySide West 2009 regarding the full implementation of the dietary supplement GMPs, including expected inspections of production facilities.

She said the move will have a positive impact on industry, as FDA and industry are both aiming to ensure finished dietary supplements are high quality and safe for consumers. Ultimately, "FDA is trying to help us and give us some guidance," she opined.
