IADSAs GMP Guide Reaches 600 Downloads

BRUSSELSThe International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplement Associations (IADSA) global GMP (good manufacturing practices) guide has been downloaded more than 600 times since its release in June with an average download of 20 per day, according to the international national trade associations. Since its release it has been distributed across the world, and has seen hundreds of requests for copies coming in across the international sector.

Developed by a team of technical experts within IADSA, the Global Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice for Supplements builds on and takes global GMP guides into close consideration. It gives guidelines for the promotion of best practice in the production of supplements, including manufacturing, quality control (QC), packaging, distribution and storage, and gives recommendations in areas critical to the manufacture of high-quality products, including the recovery or re-working of materials, documentation, self-inspections, sub-contracting operations, laboratory testing, complaints procedures, product recall and emergency procedures.

It has been developed for use by every supplement manufacturer, regardless of the size of the business and the wealth or poverty of the country," said IADSA chairman Peter Zambetti. We have had high level input from the ASEAN region, Europe, Japan and the United States, and we hope that it will be a step towards achieving and maintaining a global set of GMP standards for food supplements."
