WEST CALDWELL, N.J.—Novel Ingredient Services is sponsoring an independent clinical study of UT-Pro, its exclusive branded D-mannose powder, after two recently published clinical trials found it supports urinary tract health.

A yearlong, randomized cross-over study of 60 women between the ages of 22 and 54 years – conducted by Daniele Porru and published in April (Journal of clinical Urology. 2014 April;7(3):208-13. doi:10.1177/2051415813518332) – produced positive results for D-mannose, finding that it significantly supported urinary tract health. A previous six-month study of 308 women – conducted by Bojana Kranjcec and published in April 2013 (World Journal of Urology. 2013 April; 32:79-84. DOI 10.1007/s00345-013-1091-6) – had similar notable findings.

UT-Pro is derived from glucose and has a purity of 99 percent by HPLC. It is refined using good manufacturing practices (GMPs) that meet international standards. The trial is being conducted by Medicus Research and results are expected this fall.
