WASHINGTONTwo experts from the Natural Products Association (NPA) will participate in panel discussions about key policy and regulatory issues at The Legal, Regulatory and Compliance Forum on Dietary Supplements in New York on June 26, 2013.

NPA CEO John Shaw and Cara Welch, Ph.D., senior vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs, will join more than two dozen legal and regulatory dietary supplement experts to provide a comprehensive guide on the latest industry issues. Shaw will participate in the first panel, The Politics and Policy of Dietary Supplements: Navigating How the New Congressional, Legislative and Regulatory Landscape Will Impact the Industrys Future," and Welch will participate in the second, The Full Scope and Ramifications of the New Dietary Ingredient Guidance: Present Realities, Legalities and Anticipated Controversies."

The Natural Products Association has seen increasing activity around regulatory enforcement by the federal government this year," Welch said. "Companies of any size can join this forum to learn about their responsibilities under the law. Good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are serious business for supplements. NPA and the other industry experts can offer answers about how to be compliant with federal regulations."

Many compliance tools can help companies prepare for and maintain compliance with GMP regulations and requirements, but the key to making good use of these tools is knowing what each offers. For more information, read the INSIDER feature, "Knowing the Limits of GMP Education, Training."
