NSF Introduces Sourcing Guide

ANN ARBOR, Mich.NSF International, a not-for-profit public health and safety organization that tests and certifies nutritional supplements and a variety of food and water products, a new Sourcing Guide, which is available online and is designed to help nutritional supplement suppliers and manufacturers make educated sourcing decisions. The guide assists companies looking for a contract manufacturer or packager who is NSF GMP (good manufacturing practice) certified, and manufacturers looking to source quality raw materials for a company that is NSF GMP certified.
All 300 companies featured in the new guide have products tested and certified by one of NSF International's dietary supplement certification programs: Product/Ingredient Certification, Certified for Sport (screening for athletic banned substances) or GMP Certification:
NSF Internationals Dietary Supplement Certification program verifies whats on the label matches whats in the bottle, and there are no undeclared ingredients or unacceptable levels of contaminants.
NSF Internationals Certified for Sport program builds on the dietary supplement certification program by including screening that ensures the product does not contain banned or prohibited substances, undeclared ingredients or unacceptable levels of contaminants.
NSF Internationals GMP Certification program enables dietary supplement manufacturers to demonstrate compliance with all GMP requirements. These requirements cover all aspects of the manufacturing process, from raw material control to finished product release, as well as employee training, validation of testing equipment, product traceability and facility maintenance.
The NSF Sourcing Guide will be published twice annually to ensure the information is current. Newly certified companies will be added, and companies that are no longer certified by NSF will be removed. A current version of the guide will always be available on NSF Internationals Web site.
