Pharmachem Sells H. Reisman to LycoRed
June 26, 2006
ORANGE, N.J.—H. Reisman Corp., based here, is changing hands, leaving the Pharmachem group of companies to join the LycoRed family. H. Reisman is a specialty manufacturer of natural carotenoid suspensions and beadlets, with production capacity for custom manufacturing and formulation.
Beer-Sheeva, Israel-based LycoRed is extending its U.S. reach with this new purchase and the acquisition of the U.S. operations of Buckton Scott Nutrition in November 2005. In addition, LycoRed reorganized its subsidiaries, including Biodar and Nutriblend, into a single unit with regional operating arms. LycoRed Corp. in Fairfield, N.J., is the North American business, and the H. Reisman operations will fall into that segment, giving LycoRed a U.S. manufacturing base.
“LycoRed, with its acquisition of H. Reisman, will be able to provide a complete service package, offering a wider product range, and the extensive analytical and formulation capabilities of LycoRed’s other companies,” said Morris Zelkha, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of LycoRed Ltd. (www.lycored.com). “This is part of an industry-wide consolidation towards single suppliers of multiple value-added ingredients and services, and LycoRed is much attuned to the needs of our customers.”
Pharmachem and LycoRed were in business together prior to this transaction, with Pharmachem serving as the sales arm for the Lyc- O-Mato® natural tomato lycopene brand in the United States. In announcing the deal, the companies said Pharmachem will continue to sell LycoRed carotenoid beadlet products. A spokesperson for Pharmachem (www.pharmachemlabs.com) told INSIDER the company had no further comment regarding the transaction’s impact on its operations.
