SAN JOSE, Calif.Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. introduced its Thermo Scientific Accucore C8 HPLC column, which features a shorter alkyl length bonded phase and provides lower hydrophobic retention than a similar C18 phase. According to the company, chromatographic performance is enhanced without generating excessive operating pressure, while the new column is compatible with any instrument from any manufacturer. It is recommended for analytes with medium hydrophobicity.

The C8 HPLC is designed with Core Enhanced Technology and features solid core particles engineered to a diameter of 2.6 µmaverage particle size distribution is (D90/10) of 1.12. This enables high-speed, high-resolution separations with lower backpressures than those with ultra high pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC). The automated packaging processes used during column manufacture produce uniform tightly packed columns both robust and reproducible.
