SAN JOSE, Calif. Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. updated its high-performance Thermo Scientific TSQ 8000 triple quadrupole GC-MS system. The  new system features negative and positive ion chemical ionization (CI) capabilities.

The addition of chemical ionization gives users more options for complex, trace level analysis. For example, chemical ionization can be used for persistent organic pollutants (POPs), and methods that utilize estrogenic compounds or tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in hair.

The new triple quadrupole GC-MS system also introduces direct insertion and direct exposure probe options. Users can view their target compounds at lower concentration levels, increasing confidence and accuracy.

This is Thermo Fisher's second product launch in September. Last week, the company announced Thermo Scientific Accucore XL columns for high-performance liquid chromatography.
