The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) legitimized the supplement industry, turning it from a snake oil business into a respectable contributor to American health, according to Michael Lelah, technical director at NOW Foods.

But the law didn't stop there. Lelah talks about the importance of DHEA's GMPs (good manufacturing practices) and how he refers to them every day to produce quality, safe supplements at NOW Foods.

He also explains the lengths NOW Foods took to ensure DSHEA supports were able to get to the rallies when the law was proposed, and he addresses the DHEA condemners who would like to see a supplement registration requirement.
