The American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP) and the National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR) at the University of Mississippi formed a research collaboration to develop quality standards for dietary supplements. The groups will integrate efforts for developing benchmarks of identity, purity and quality for botanicals that will be published as AHP standards.

Collaboration between organizations is the key to addressing the many quality issues required for creating a strong foundation of quality for the botanical products industry, said Roy Upton, executive director at AHP. The strength of AHP in bringing standards and guidance to the industry together with the research strength of NCNPR will greatly increase the practical value of the works produced by both organizations.
