AHPA Elects Board, Presents Awards

SILVER SPRING, Md.During Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim,Calif., the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) held its 2006 Board ofTrustees election during its annual meeting.The new officers are James Fischer,chair, Goen Technologies/Drinker Biddle & Reath; Beth Lambert, vice chair,Herbalist & Alchemist; Gordon Walker, secretary, Natures Way; and SusanTrimbo, treasurer, General Nutrition Centers. The executive committee includesthe board officers and Mitchell Coven, Vitality Works; Edward Fletcher,Strategic Sourcing; and Stefan Wypyszyk, MB North America.

The new board of trustees includes the executive board members plus: Lee Carroll, Standard Process/MediHerb; Jon Cassista, NOW Foods; Edward Croom, Ph.D., Indena USA; Staci Eisner, PlusPharma Inc.; Bob Green,Novel Ingredient Services; Lyra Heller, Metagenics Inc.; Katie Huggins,Traditional Medicinals; Sara Katz, Herb Pharm; William Keller, Ph.D., NaturesSunshine Products; Robert King, A.M. Todd; James Kinsinger, Hain CelestialGroup; David Litell, Chemins Co.; Greg Tilford, Animal Essentials Inc.; MaryBeth Watkins, Botanical Laboratories; and Michael Yatcilla, Natrol Inc.

Also during its meeting at Expo West, AHPA honored two individuals and onecompany with its new AHPA Herbal Awards. Eisner was named AHPA Herbal Hero;Norman R. Farnsworth, Ph.D., received the AHPA Herbal Science Award; and NaturesWay Products was recognized as the AHPA Herbal Industry Leader. Each of theserecipients is outstanding in their own way, said Lambert, the outgoing boardchair. Their work has wide-ranging effects on this industry as well as thisassociation, as they set high standards that others would do well to match.
